The Fond du Lac Public Library provides free library service to individuals who are unable to come to the library due to physical limitations. Volunteers are matched with one or two homebound persons by the program coordinator. They become familiar with the reading and viewing preferences of their homebound individual(s), then select and deliver materials to their homes. Deliveries are usually made once or twice a month. Who is eligible for this service? Homebound residents of the city of Fond du Lac and its outlying areas are eligible to register for this service. The service is also offered to people who reside in assisted living residences and limited or extended care facilities. In addition, people who are temporarily unable to visit the library due to accident or illness are eligible for this service. What materials are available? The library has large print books, both fiction and nonfiction, magazines, books on tape and/or compact disc, music CDs, and videos and DVDs. The library also has available a large collection of regular print books and paperbacks. How do I register for this service? Call the library at 929-7080 option 3. Staff will take your name and phone number and pass it on to the volunteer coordinator. The coordinator will then contact you and explain the program in detail. You will need to fill out a short application that includes questions about your reading interests.
