Carmen R. Henry designs original hats for fashion conscious women who fancy a tastefully bold image. Her signature style emphasizes color, asymmetrical lines, and versatility. Carmen's millinery line made its successful debut at Macy's in Pentagon City, Virginia in the spring of 1995. Since then, she has showcased her beautifully crafted designs in a multitude of women's expos and fashion shows for selected civic, social, and religious organizations. Carmen R. Henry Designs has been described as "dramatic," "gorgeous," and "captivating." Carmen has received multiple awards for her design prowess. Among her accolades are "Women Entrepreneur of the Year" for 2002 from Victoria Magazine, (an honor bestowed on her and fellow members of the Millinery Arts Alliance, by a nationwide poll consisting of the magazines devoted readers), the Oleg Cassini Designer Award, Excellence in Fashion Drawing Award from Women's Wear Daily, Most Promising Designer Award from the National Association of Accessory Designers and the Golden Scissors Award from the St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri Chapters of the National Fashion Group. Carmen's designs have been featured in Ebony Magazine April 2005, Hats International Magazine (London, publication February 2005), Women's Wear Daily (Chicago's July 2001 Supplement) August and December 2002 issues of Victoria Magazine, Chicago Magazine ("Best purchase of 2002") August 2002, The Essential Chicago Magazine 2003-September 2004), Today's Woman (spring 2003), the Chicago Sun-Times (Around Town with Mary Cameron Frey - May 23, 2002) the Chicago Tribune (Susan Chandler - April 3 2003), the Star, Indigo, Defender (local newspapers), the Louisville Courier (March 6, 2003), the Washington Post, the Kansas City Star and Call Newspapers. Her designs have also been featured on Showtime, PBS, Louisville, Kentucky Fox morning news show and their CBS affiliate, local Chicago News Stations Channel 7(ABC), Channel 5(NBC) and CLTV. Currently, her couture millinery designs are sold at Macy's on State Street in downtown Chicago (312 781-1000). Macy's guests can also request custom orders of Carmen R.
