Verse Press is committed to bringing attention to emerging writers and to the idea that the audience for poetry in America is larger and more diverse than commonly thought. We encourage our authors to read extensively at venues throughout the country as part of our commitment to bringing poetry to literary and popular audiences. Our titles have received critical acclaim in publications such as Boston Review, Kirkus Reviews, Harper's, Jacket (Australia), The New Yorker, Publisher's Weekly, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice and others. Our authors have received awards including NEA and Guggenheim fellowships, the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, inclusion in the Best American Poetry series, and awards from the Academy of American Poets, the Massachusetts Center for the Book, The American Poetry Review, and many others. Verse Press holds the annual Verse Prize in February of each year, for an unpublished book-length manuscript of poetry. We do not currently read unsolicited manuscripts at any other time. Verse Press is a participating publisher in the National Poetry Series.
