Theatre Box is a community theatre group based in Floral Park , Long Island , New York . Although it is affiliated with, and uses space provided by, the United Methodist Church of Floral Park and is comprised mostly of area residents, participation in the group's activities is open to all interested parties. Theatre Box is in its 24th season and presents three full-scale theatrical productions each year. It has offered a wide range of shows, including comedies (Rumors, Lend Me a Tenor, The Odd Couple), dramas (Crimes of the Heart, Steel Magnolias, Our Town, Twelve Angry Men), mysteries (Rehearsal for Murder, A New Style for Murder), and musicals (Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Anything Goes, The Music Man). A non-profit, volunteer organization, Theatre Box earns income exclusively from ticket sales and program advertising. It retains some of this operating revenue to fund future productions and modest capital acquisitions, such as lighting and sound equipment and audience seating. Other income is donated to local charitable and community service organizations.
