STAT EMS Inc
Medical emergency service
Info
STAT's employees serve local communities on a personal basis, for we commit ourselves to the communities where we live and work. As medical professionals and as neighbors, your needs are our concerns. With more than 60 Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), STAT is large enough to have extensive expertise in a variety of calls and areas, yet small enough to still offer personal and customized medical care and services. STAT Emergency Medical Services, Inc. was founded in 2001 in response to the concern that ambulance service in Genesee County was inadequate to meet the emergency and inter-facility needs of the community. The company began operations with few resources, including used ambulances, a limited number of employees, and a limited budget. Due to detailed pre-planning of deployment and station locations, emergency volume quickly grew above predictions; and non-emergency volume from hospitals and skilled nursing facilities followed as facility personnel found STAT's paramedics and EMTs to be courteous, friendly, and dedicated to exceeding the needs of the patient and facility. Just a short time after the company began its operations, the City of Flint Fire Department discontinued its EMS transport program. STAT EMS responded by dedicating resources to insure that EMS calls in Flint would be answered within appropriate response times. STAT was able to quickly open stations staffed with laid-off Flint City paramedics in and around the city in order to provide balanced coverage. In 2002, STAT EMS continued to grow, developing a public-private partnership with the City of Swartz Creek. Other area providers were unable to offer communities a solution that met response time objectives as well as the financial limitations of the community. The successful partnership demonstrated that STAT EMS could not only handle high-volume urban areas with reliable response, but could also provide alternative EMS solutions to rural areas where volume alone did not support reliable EMS service. STAT EMS, Inc. currently operates out of seven sub-stations and one headquarters in Flint and Genesee County and plans on responding to over 18,000 requests for transportation services in 2005. STAT employs 45 full-time and 25+ part-time employees, including billing, communications, QA, vehicle maintenance, education, and administration. Additionally, STAT EMS, Inc. has been the largest 911 ambulance provider in Genesee County since 2002. Most importantly, the clinical expertise STAT EMS strives towards fuels our commitment to provide our personnel with the most advanced equipment and supplies, as well as ongoing continued and specialty education. Our management prides itself on reliability and has spent countless hours creating an internal continuous quality improvement (CQI) program which provides for prospective and retrospective review of patient care practices. As a result, our organization is continuously monitoring clinical advancements in pre-hospital care and patient transportation, pursuing the latest equipment, technology, and operating practices that improve our ability to deliver the most efficiant and cost conscious service available. STAT's Patient Business Services manages all patient billing services through an internal billing department. Our billing policies strictly adhere to state and federalreimbursement regulations. In addition, STAT's policies also educate our personnel as well as hospital and nursing facility personnel about issues of compliance and documentation. It is not uncommon for ambulance providers to offer facilities deep discounts for DRG and perspective payment services (PPS) patients in order to secure other business. Rather than expose our agency and our facility clients to federal audit and penalties, STAT EMS provides copies of legal statues, OIG (Office of Inspector General)opinions, and case law to facilities demonstrating that services and prices offered by STAT EMS are within local, state, and federal guidelines. STAT professionals invest the time and effort towards assisting patients, family members, guardians and facility personnel with transportation, logistics and billing issues . . . Guaranteed! As a private company, we feel the quality of service provided by STAT to emergency and inter-facility patients is directly related to our billing and collection practices, and because of this we have developed billing processes and procedures which guarantee insurance claims are submitted quickly. Patients can receive clear, concise information about their co-pays and/or other financial commitments which may arise from the use of our ambulance or specialty transportation services.
