Description of The Fayetteville International Folk Dancers
The Fayetteville International Folk Dancers (FIFD) is a recreational dance group open to all ages. International Folk Dancers share a love for the dances of many nations around the world. Folk dances can range from what could be called "village dances", which are done solely for the enjoyment of the dancers, to fully choreographed sets used in demonstrations and performances. During an evening's class, the teaching may jump from Bulgaria to Greece, Japan, Macedonia, Hungary, Russia, and Israel, just to name a few. The current repertoire has dances for over 50 countries and regions. No partner or previous experience is required for FIFD classes. Each week, the dance sessions begin with easy dances and will progress to more difficult as the evening continues, so beginners are encouraged to arrive early. Dress is casual and comfortable, non-marking shoes are recommended. We have a great wood floor so it's easy on the knees. Please join us each week as we explore the world around us and relish in the phenomenal variety of music and dance.
