Houston Engineering, Inc. was founded in Fargo, North Dakota in 1968 by George T. Houston. From the beginning, the company earned a strong reputation for its expertise in the areas of water supply, waste water, water resources management, municipal engineering, transportation engineering, and surveying. We emerged as a leader in the development of rural and large-scale water supply systems. At the same time, we built an expertise in watershed and urban storm water management; flood control; flood insurance studies; hydraulic, hydrodynamic and hydrologic modeling; roadway and bridge design; site development; wetland delineation; environmental review and permitting; water supply and drought planning; and waste water treatment. Houston opened an office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to provide civil, water quality, water resources, and environmental services to southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and Iowa. The Minneapolis office has expanded its services to also provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Web development, land and site development, and surveying. As our growth continued, Houston established a Bismarck, North Dakota, office to provide civil engineering, surveying, environmental, and GIS services to central and western North Dakota, Montana, and South Dakota. Today, we have an office in Minot, North Dakota, Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and also provide services from Billings, Montana, and Barnesville, Minnesota. We continue to explore the latest technology innovations and other engineering advances that help us stay at the forefront of our field.
