Caliber was founded in October 1996 as joint venture between Sylvan & MCI to promote excellence in adult & lifelong learning. The first task was to design and build a network of satellite-linked learning centers in North America and Europe. Caliber recognized that classroom training is an essential part of many educational experiences. Next, the concept was improved by linking more than one hundred classrooms together so the best instructor can have unprecedented reach. At the same time Caliber's education and software experts began creating a broadband software platform that combines interactive media with individual learning styles. This award-winning platform works seamlessly in the learning center network and on the desktop through Internet delivery. Caliber also built a network of studios so clients can create world class educational and training programs. Many clients have installed these classrooms and studios at their own headquarters.By early 1998, Caliber was serving a wide range of corporate and academic clients. In May 1998, Caliber had an initial public offering, and is now traded on NASDAQ as CLBR. Caliber remains dedicated to refining learning theory, investigating new technologies, and acquiring content that clients need to succeed.
