Fairbury Country Club
Info
Fairbury was home to Nebraska's first Wal-Mart store 25 years ago and Wal-Mart continues to serve the community in its new 100,000 sq ft store. Store Manager Ron Hilligas says the Fairbury Wal-Mart was the first in Nebraska and he's pleased the new, larger store can offer customers new merchandise selections and an enhanced shopping experience overall. A dozen associates who opened the doors to the original store in August 1982 will be on hand to greet customers as they step into the expansive Supercenter. The new store is less than a mile away from the original location and provides many added conveniences, such as one-hour photo services and groceries in one place. According to Hilligas, the new Wal-Mart Supercenter features more than 30 general merchandise departments including apparel and accessories, fine jewelry, a lawn and garden center, health and beauty aids, and a full line of electronics. In addition, the store offers a bakery, a delicatessen, a frozen food section and meat, dairy and fresh produce sections. It will be open to customers 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week and will include eight full-service and four express check-out lanes. Other store features include: a one-hour photo lab, a pharmacy and a Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phone sales. As one of several time-saving conveniences, customers will be able to purchase a variety of hot chicken dinners and salads at the delicatessen.
