ViroPharma Incorporated is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and commercialization of products that address serious infectious diseases. As of December 31, 2007, the Company had one marketed product and multiple product candidates in clinical development. It markets and sells Vancocin HCl capsules, the oral capsule formulation of vancomycin hydrochloride in the United States and its territories. ViroPharma has three development programs in its product pipeline. Two programs are in clinical development that target hepatitis C virus and cytomegalovirus (CMV) with an initial focus on CMV disease in recipients of hematopoietic stem cell/bone marrow and solid organ transplants. The third program is in preclinical development and targets the treatment and prevention of Clostridium difficile infection using the spore form of a non-toxin producing strain of C. difficile. In October 2008, the Company acquired Lev Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
