Glenn R. Jones, founder and CEO of Jones KnowledgeÔ, Inc., has devoted much of his life to his passionately held belief that education should be available to everyone, everywhere. The Jones companies have been working to further that goal since 1987, with the launch of Mind Extension UniversityÔ (ME/UÔ), a cable television network that enabled 30,000 students to take courses from over 30 colleges and universities via television. In 1993, our company founded Jones International University® (JIUÔ)-the first fully online university to receive regional accreditation in the U.S.-marking our early entrance into the use of the Internet to distribute education. Jones e-global library®, our suite of online research tools covering all major academic disciplines and business areas, was created in 1999 to support librarians, as students and businesses began to use the Internet as an information resource. The first generation of our course management and delivery platform, Jones e-educationÔ, was developed in 1997 to meet the needs of ME/U customers looking to deliver their curricula on the Internet. The software now supports learning programs worldwide, including our own Jones International University. Jones Knowledge Store® began as the bookstore for ME/U, and today is our one-stop-shop for the latest in online K-12, higher education and corporate training courses. On August 29th, 2002, shortly after many of our competitors had drastically increased the cost to use their online course management software, we announced that we would provide our software on a free license to appropriately accredited educational institutions. Since then, we have released the newest and most successful generation of e-education software, Jones e-education: Software Standard V2002. Later this quarter we will be releasing V2003.1. The evolution of the Jones Knowledge companies has been based on the invaluable experience we have gained serving as an educational institution, platform provider, information manager, and content provider.
