Gulden Ophthalmics, formerly R. O. Gulden Company, was founded in 1938 as a manufacturer of ophthalmic instruments and devices . It has remained a family run business. One of R. O. Gulden's first products, the diagnostic Prism Bar, was jointly developed and patented with Dr. Conrad Berens of New York. Today, the business is being operated by the grandson of Mr. Gulden, who continues to remain faithful to the quality reputation and name recognition associated with the Gulden Company as a premier manufacturer of ophthalmic instruments and devices. In the national arena, Gulden has been a reliable ophthalmic instruments manufacturer and ophthalmic device manufacturer for Alcon, Bausch & Lomb/Storz and Sklar in excess of fifty years. Internationally, our first foreign distributorship as an ophthalmic instruments manufacturer and ophthalmic device manufacturer was established in 1953. Currently, as an ophthalmic instruments manufacturer, we retain all of our original customers and have established long-term relationships with a broad range of distributors in America. Internationally, Gulden continues to grow as a manufacturer of ophthalmic instruments and ophthalmic devices in foreign markets, especially in South America, Europe and the Far East.
