Great River Energy, headquartered in Elk River, Minn., is the second largest electric utility in state, based on generating capacity, and the fifth largest generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative in the U.S. in terms of assets. Here are directions to our Elk River headquarters. Our new headquarters facility is currently under construction in Maple Grove, Minn. We anticipate moving to our new, LEED platinum certified building in early 2008. We provide wholesale electric service to 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Those member cooperatives distribute electricity to more than 600,000 homes, businesses and farms. As a G&T, Great River Energy both generates electricity at power plants and transmits that electricity across high voltage transmission lines.
