Nelson & Company, P.A. is a certified public accounting firm based in Durham, North Carolina. We were founded in 1983 to offer services to businesses in the Triangle area. Our reputation as a business leader is based on our professional expertise and success in providing quality professional services to more than 1,600 clients, including approximately 600 business clients in the Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh area. These clients are involved in various activities including non-profit, manufacturing, retail, wholesale and distribution, health care, service industries, legal and other professional services, real estate development and sales, insurance and investment management services. We feel that our firm has a commitment of service to the community. We carry out our commitment in various ways. In addition to monetary contributions, we also volunteer our time on boards, committees and in other volunteer capacities. In particular and among numerous others, we have participated on the boards of Caring House, Habitat for Humanity, the Durham Chamber of Commerce, Durham County Teen Court & Restitution Program, the Durham Jaycees, the Carolina Arts Festival, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Nelson & Company, P.A.'s professional staff comprises four partners and nine other professional and paraprofessional staff. All members of the firm's professional staff have the benefit of a planned program of professional development and continuing education through programs sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in-house seminars, national industry conferences and varied work experience. We are in compliance with the registration and permit requirements for the practice of public accounting in North Carolina. Nelson & Company, P.A. provides its clients with quality work performed in a timely manner. This involves effectively communicating with the client and properly planning and staffing an engagement in order to conduct work efficiently. We insure that we will achieve the clients' objectives by designing our engagement to accomplish these goals and by maintaining continued working relationships after the engagement is complete. Our goal is to be available to work with clients when the need arises. However, we are interested in more than just responding to the clients' requests. We approach our relationship with our clients in a proactive manner, working to anticipate their needs and suggesting ways to help achieve their goals. Emphasis in all these areas assures that the clients' needs are met. This philosophy of client service enables Nelson & Company, P.A. to provide its clients with accurate, dependable financial information at a reasonable cost. As a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, we are required to maintain a system of quality control to insure the work we perform is of the highest possible quality for our clients. As part of this program, we are required to have our work reviewed by an independent accounting firm. On each of our reviews, we received an unqualified opinion, which is the highest possible opinion that can be received.
