At UHAH, we want to "give back" to the community that has supported us over the years. One way we do that is by conducting our annual charity fund raising event, that we call, Paws for a Cause. This occasion, held in the spring of each year, allows our practice and staff to raise funds that are distributed to local charities that assist animals or people in need. Since beginning Paws for a Cause, we have supported the following charitable groups: Denver Dumb Friend's League - Our local humane society, that adopts about 15,000 pets annually. Rocky Mountain Foal Rescue - A group that rescues foals that would otherwise be slaughtered. Freedom Service Dogs - A group that rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to assist people with mobility impairments. Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary - A group that accepts and treats sick and injured wildlife. Their goal is to rehabilitate and release them back to the wild. Denver Kids, Inc. - A group that helps students in high risk environments to successfully graduate from high school and become useful and productive citizens. Best Friends Animal Society - A group that provides resources to assist communities to fulfill their "No More Homeless Pets" program. Family Pathways of Colorado, Inc. - A group that provides residential care to children who have been removed from their home due to abuse. Wild B.I.R.D. - An organization that provides information and rehabilitation for orphaned and injured native birds.
