Cosi, Inc. owns, operates and franchises convenience restaurants. The Company’s restaurants sell hot and cold sandwiches, salads, Cosi bagels, pizzas, S’mores and other desserts, and a variety of coffees along with other soft drink beverages, teas and alcoholic beverages. As of March 17, 2008, there were 106 Company-owned and 42 franchise convenience restaurants operating in 19 states, the District of Columbia, and the United Arab Emirates, of which eight franchised restaurants were opened subsequent to the year ended December 31, 2007. It operates its Company-owned restaurants in two formats: Cosi and Cosi Downtown. Cosi Downtown restaurants, which are located in non-residential central business districts, close for the day in the early evening, while Cosi restaurants offer dinner and dessert in a casual dining atmosphere.
