Geary Gallery
museum
Info
The Geary Gallery maintains an ambitious exhibition schedule, changing shows approximately every five weeks except during the summer months. They feature both Connecticut-based artists with national reputations and well-known artists from along the eastern seaboard. Notably, master pastelist Gene Sparkman exhibits at the Geary Gallery as does Andrew N. Wyeth, nephew of Andrew Wyeth, every other year. The Gearys have also launched careers. For example, the Chinese artist Xue Jian-Xin had his first U.S. show at the Geary Gallery before he was even free to leave his native Suchou in the People's Republic. He has since emigrated and gone on to a well-respected career here. He continues to exhibit at the Geary Gallery. Recognizing the value of the Internet as a vehicle for providing information about their business and for globally promoting the work of the artists they represent, the Gearys established this site on the World Wide Web. Within the context of realism, the Geary Gallery has become a marvelously eclectic resource for the art viewer and collector. The Gearys' willingness to trust their instincts about the artists they handle -- operating outside the sometimes stifling environment of the art establishment -- provides opportunities for Fairfield County art lovers to 'discover' an artist.
