The Highland Park Independent School District is one of only two districts in the state to earn all 11 Gold Performance Acknowledgment awards from the Texas Education Agency. All seven of the HPISD campuses also received multiple Gold Performance Acknowledgments. The Texas Legislature created the Gold Performance Acknowledgment (GPA) in 2001 to publicly recognize districts and campuses for high performance in areas that are in addition to those used to determine state accountability ratings. Districts were eligible for a maximum of 11 possible GPAs, which are measures of high performance created by the Texas Legislature or the commissioner of education.
