Info

Navigauge is the first company to combine radio ratings data with global positioning software (GPS) - enabling advertisers, broadcasters, retailers, transit authorities and other organizations to more accurately gauge consumer listening preferences and driving patterns. What are radio ratings? The Navigauge ratings for out-of-home media measure the number of people who listen to a radio station at a given time or see a particular outdoor advertisement or billboard. Radio stations use ratings to better understand what songs and programs people like and don¹t like; when you listen; the characteristics or composition of the total audience (how many men, how many women, what are their ages and interests, etc.);and a multitude of other data. Broadcasters and advertisers use this information to provide more of what people want to hear on their favorite stations. How are the ratings created? Navigauge ratings are generated by a group of people known as a panel, who represent the usage of the entire population. Individuals who participate in the panel are selected using scientific, equal-probability techniques to ensure the characteristics of panel members match or are proportional to the whole population. How does the IQMonitor work? The Navigauge monitoring system is built around a patent-pending device that is connected unobtrusively in the trunk or under the dash to your car radio. Smaller than a VHS tape, once installed, the IQMonitor does not require any interaction from you. Each change in the radio's state is time-stamped and stored for transmission back to a central processing center. The real-time, in-car data captured by Navigauge's monitoring system includes: The status of your vehicle (Ignition Off / On) The status of your radio (Off / On / CD/ Cassette/ or Other Local Listening source) Station being listened to (AM / FM Frequency) Vehicle Position determined via the Global Positioning System (GPS) Return To The TopWhy does Navigauge want me to participate? Navigauge contacted you as a result of equal-probability recruiting techniques. That's a fancy way of saying you were selected purely at random, and that the odds of being chosen were the same for anyone else in your area. This technique is the standard in the media research industry, and goes a long way in ensuring that participants are representative and proportional in terms of age, gender, geographic location, etc., to the population as a whole. Whether you listen a lot or a little; tune to many stations or just a few; never change the channel; or switch at every red light, your participation will help the out-of-home media industry understand how you and people like you enjoy the programming, information and entertainment being provided. Do you accept referrals? Since we use equal-probability recruiting techniques, we do not accept referrals. What if I don't want to participate anymore? If at any time you decide that you would like to end your membership, simply notify the Navigauge IQMedia Panel Support team. What happens to my radio listening information? Every night, the listening choices of all panel members are combined to create the rating values. While Navigauge clients may review the listening patterns of an individual member of the panel, they will never know any personally identifying information about that or any other panel member.
