Info

The Cullman Police Department maintains active involvement in Cullman City Schools. Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is a drug and violence prevention program. Specially trained uniformed police officers teach a 10 week curriculum. The end result is to equip our youth with life skills to resist peer pressure in hopes of stopping the desire to become involved with harmful drugs and violence. Sixth grade students ( 10 week core curriculum) and eighth grade students (10 week continuation curriculum) in the Cullman City Schools are the primary focus of the program with some introductory visits given to students in Headstart through third grades. One full-time officer and two part-time officers teach D.A.R.E. in four public schools and two private schools in the city, reaching over 1,600 students. Cullman Police Department also staffs both Cullman Middle School and Cullman High School with a full-time school resource officer, to patrol the campus and ensure the safety of Cullman's students.
