Info
Newport Creamery has been a New England tradition for over 70 years! With a dedication to quality, Newport Creamery brings its customers fresh food, premium ice cream, a welcoming atmosphere, and fast, friendly service. The Newport Creamery began in 1928 as a wholesale milk business located in Newport. The Creamery survived the depression emerging as a retail operation owned by one of its original partners, Samuel M. Rector. In 1949, the Newport Creamery's ice cream and food-manufacturing plant was opened along with a second restaurant located in Pawtucket. Over the next decades, several restaurants were opened throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The Newport Creameries have become much more than just an ice-cream store. Each Newport Creamery restaurant is part of the neighborhood, a place where friends meet to enjoy themselves. The Jan Companies purchased Newport Creamery in December 2001 after the Creamery's previous owners declared bankruptcy and closed several locations. The Jan Companies currently own and operate 13 locations, 2 of which are in Massachusetts.
