Cortland Fire Department was formed in 1948 and the fire district in 1964 which encompasses 25 sq. miles and borders on the Sycamore Fire District on the North, Maple Park Fire Protection District on the East, Hinckley Fire Protection District on the South and DeKalb on the West.The Cortland Fire Department, chartered in 1947, is an all-volunteer fire department that meets regularly on each Monday at 7 p.m. for training.
