Info
AMVETS Career Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation, chartered in the State of Ohio to provide employment, career and training assistance to veterans, active duty military personnel and members of the National Guard and Reserves who have served America honorably. Who is eligible for assistance? You do not need to be an AMVETS member to receive help from AMVETS Career Centers. However, you must: - Be a veteran, an active duty member of the armed forces, a member of the Ohio National Guard or a member of the military Reserves. - Have served, or be currently serving, with honor. Evidence of your honorable service, such as a DD-214, is required to receive assistance. - Be a resident of Ohio OR belong to an Ohio AMVETS post OR be a member of an Ohio-based National Guard or Reserve unit. Why is assistance limited to those who have a connection to Ohio? Because AMVETS Career Centers are funded 100% from contributions of members of Ohio AMVETS posts. How much does it cost? The core career services provided by AMVETS Career Center are free. If additional assistance is needed that AMVETS Career Center cannot provide, we try to find solutions that provide high value, low cost services to veterans and active duty servicemembers. What types of services do you provide? We provide access to a full range of career and employment services. Depending on the individual's needs, those services may be provided by AMVETS Career Centers, or by one of our service partners. More information about our services is available here. Where are you located? There currently are 58 AMVETS Career Center locations in Ohio. To find the local career center nearest to you, look here. Why can't my family get help too? AMVETS Career Center is a nonprofit organization that is governed by IRS regulations. Services can be provided for free only to veterans and servicemembers who have served or who are serving honorably. Career services can be provided to family members, but payment of a fee is required. One exception: Career services can be provided free to the spouse and children of troops if (1) the servicemember is stationed on active duty outside of Ohio and (2) the spouse and children are residents of Ohio. When the servicemember returns to Ohio, the free services would end. Have another question that wasn't answered here? Contact us us and we'll respond to your question as quickly as possible.
