Blair College offers opportunity and promise to its students by providing quality education in several business-related disciplines. The college was founded in 1982 as Mountainwest Computer School. It was purchased in 1983 and named Mountainwest College of Business and Technology. Candidacy for accreditation of Junior College status was granted in 1987. In 1989, Phillips Colleges, Inc. acquired Mountainwest Junior College and the name was subsequently changed to Phillips Junior College. Rhodes Colleges, Inc. acquired the school in 1996 and called it Blair College in recognition of the institution's history of excellent training and education practices in the Colorado Springs area. Blair College provides instruction in progorams such as business accounting, medical insurance billing and medical coding, business administration, accounting, computer information systems, medical assisting, network administration, professional office assistant, travel and tourism and surgical technologist. The business accounting program encompasses the fundamentals of accounting and provides the groundwork for a number of exciting careers. You will gain strong management, communication, and computer skills essential to this field. The curriculum provides you with the skills necessary to perform vital accounting tasks for a business, including instruction and hands-on training in financial and management accounting as they apply to the legal, medical and business environments. The curriculum includes instruction in principles of accounting, cost/managerial accounting, payroll accounting, tax accounting, finance, business law, communications and business writing. Blair College also provides a medical billing and coding program. As a trained professional in medical insurance billing/coding, you will learn the basic concepts and procedures to perform the tasks involved in health insurance as well as insurance claim forms. You will also gain knowledge of basic coding definitions and how to apply those codes to medical documentation. The program includes instruction on medical insurance, claims processing/collection strategies, current procedural coding and diagnostic coding. Career opportunities include medical insurance biller, medical receptionist and medical transcriptionist. Our business administration program includes classes in the principles of accounting, cost accounting, payroll accounting, computer applications, finance, management, human resources, marketing, spreadsheets and communications. With the growth of the Internet industry and e-commerce opportunities, there is an even greater need for well-rounded business training.
