Info
The Backup Training Corporation is a recognized leader in technology-based training, specializing in digital training solutions for law enforcement, national defense, and public service industries. With over 30,000 officers trained annually on over forty computer-based courses, The Backup is the leading private trainer of law enforcement in the nation. In circulation for ten years, with industry proven course content, our training offers a convenient method of providing affordable and comprehensible training to optimize an officer's job performance and safety. Originally launched as a free law enforcement publication by Idaho businesswoman Yvonne Ellis, the first issue of The Backup appeared on-line in 1997. The delivery format was quickly changed to CD-ROM in an effort to reach more people who did not have on-line access. While the recognition and distribution of the publication began to grow, the groundwork for digital-based training was laid. The Backup's first computer-based training class, Suicide by Cop, was released in 2000. With an in-house production team, courses are filmed, written, and designed entirely on site. Our courses offer law enforcement top-notch training in an easy-to-use format, which tracks the user's comprehension and progress. Courses also meet in-service training mandates in forty states. In the aftermath of 9/11, The Backup partnered with the National Tactical Officers Association and the International Narcotics Interdiction Association to develop a series of training courses on terrorism. These classes have been used by all levels of law enforcement, including the State of New York to train their first responders. At the same time, we began working with North Idaho College to offer nationally transferable college credits for our law enforcement courses. Officers now not only receive the benefit of the training's information, they can apply this knowledge to their formal education as well. The goal of making our training products free to all law enforcement was finally realized in 2006. By establishing funding partnerships within the college community, it is now possible for officers to receive our courses at no cost. Since implementation of the program, these partnerships have resulted in a quarterly student growth of over 100%. The Backup has established a reputation for providing quality courseware, which has directly lent itself to the award of numerous contracts to build products for federal and state agencies and a host of private companies. We strive to provide the best training and technology-based solutions to enhance the lives of our clients. A corporate culture of true concern for the safety of those we train, and putting our customers' needs first, is what drives The Backup Training Corporation forward.
