The Society of Thoracic Surgeons' mission is to help cardiothoracic surgeons serve patients better. The Society is a not-for-profit professional organization representing more than 4,800 surgeons worldwide who perform heart, lung, esophageal, and other surgical procedures of the chest. Founded in 1964, the Society is dedicated to saving and extending the lives of the patients it serves.
