HBK Engineering, LLC offers a wide range of Civil and Environmental Engineering services in addition to underground facility design. Our staff of Professional Engineers and support personnel brings years of prior experience in a variety of fields. We have successfully completed projects in the areas of environmental consulting and remediation, site development, surveying and construction layout, interior communications infrastructure design, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) mapping, including the use of survey-grade Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology. In mapping and design of underground utility projects within and around the City of Chicago, HBK Engineering is the proven leader. We have been contracted to perform design and mapping of new electrical, telecommunications, and water distribution facilities throughout the metropolitan area. HBK Engineering strictly adheres to the policies and procedures set forth by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). Since our founding, we have worked closely with many agencies within CDOT, including the Office of Underground Coordination (OUC), the Bureau of Inspections (BOI), and the Bureau of Bridges and Transit (BOBT). These agencies consider HBK's base maps and design drawings to be the standard to follow, and our drawings were used by the City of Chicago in a publication entitled Construction Document - Submittal Review, Approval, and Permitting - Procedures / Guidelines, which provides facility owners, engineers, and contractors with appropriate examples to follow. Our project managers and coordinators have a combined total of over 30 years of experience. Each project is overseen by one of our senior project managers, all of whom are Licensed Professional Engineers, and will take a project from its initial planning phase through completion of the final product. Our hands-on philosophy means that our most senior engineers are directly involved in all aspects of the project, including fieldwork, drafting, design, observation of construction, and post-construction records. In addition, each project has a coordinator who liaisons between the municipal agencies, contractors, and the client to ensure that all scheduling and administrative aspects of each project are attended to. The project coordinator generally serves as the main point of contact for the client. Safety, and protection of workers, the public, and existing facilities is the highest priority at HBK Engineering. As an active member of the Greater Chicago Damage Prevention Council (GCDCP), HBK Engineering strives to maintain constant communication about facilities protection within the underground construction community. We believe that a coordinated effort among all government agencies, engineers, contractors, and utility owners is the best way to minimize accidental damage. Ronald G. Kaminski, HBK's President, is an officer of the GCDCP. Our base maps and design drawings reflect the highest level of document research, field reconnaissance, and an attention to detail that exemplifies the best in damage-prevention engineering. In addition, our field crews all receive the latest training and personal protective equipment (PPE) to help ensure their safety during all fieldwork.
