The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (the Bank) is a federally chartered company. The Bank provides credit to members principally in the form of secured loans, called advances. It also provides funding for home mortgage loans to members approved as Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) through the Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF) Program. Additional funds are provided by deposits, other borrowings, and the issuance of capital stock. The Bank also provides members and non-members with services, such as safekeeping, wire transfers and cash management.(Source: 10-K)
