Info

Rob Jordan Talent Management provides constructive contract negotiation relying on our experience of reviewing broadcasting contracts from the top media corporations in the industry. You have a partner in your career: Rob often finds clients have conflicts with an employer, a co-worker, or have a confidential personal matter relating to their career that requires attention. You will find it assuring to know that you have a partner who will serve as a sounding board and can offer you prudent, thoughtful advice backed by years of representation experience. How is my resume tape processed? Your resume tape is completed by Rob Jordan Talent Management after extensive review of your past and current work. We may circulate several different tapes. We talk to managers to understand their requirements. Some stations will be looking for a weekend anchor, but prefer someone that is a strong live reporter 3 nights a week, and the candidate doesn't necessarily have to be a top notch anchor. Perhaps we find out the weekend anchor opening could lead to growth and promotion to a weeknight job in the future. Then, we would provide a station with more of a "weeknight anchor" tape as opposed to the emphasis on the reporting part of the tape. Managers always want to see field-work. If you're a weekday morning anchor and don't do live shots on a regular basis, we may want to use older tape just to demonstrate that ability. Once, we advised a morning and noon anchor in a medium market to volunteer to report one weekend. The client got three different live shots and one was a breaking story. The stations reviewing his tape were not concerned he didn't report everyday. The proof was on tape that he could do it. We will work together to best present your strengths and discuss your credentials with our national contacts. Why shouldn't I just hire an attorney to negotiate and review my contract? Most attorneys are not experienced in career management and don't talk to television executives daily. A reputable agent who knows the business can hold station management accountable and will be more effective in negotiating change. Why should I instead hire an agent to assist me with my career? A reputable agent professionally markets your tape, has on-going relationships with television executives all over the country and the industry knowledge to help create leverage for you in negotiations. A local attorney is unlikely to know industry standards for television employment agreements. With budget cutbacks at stations leading the trades, don't expect that you will have a tremendous amount of leverage when going into your management's office on your own. Hiring an attorney might be perceived by management that you have no other options. Having your management know you want to stay is not always a bad thing. However, you want management to have incentive to give you a good offer for your next agreement. Therefore, many don't get what they deserve in the next contract because they didn't aggressively shop themselves to determine their worth in the marketplace. What are other ways that Rob Jordan Talent Management can help me? We provide constructive advice on performance, writing and delivery critique, plus overviews on appearance, such as wardrobe selection and makeup. How do I check you out? When we begin the process of discussing the relationship, Rob Jordan Talent Management will be happy to give you any number of references for you to validate our experience and success. Also, our IN THE NEWS PAGE lists national placements of talent.
