Jesus Is Lord Ministries accepts donations (we are a non-profit, tax exempt organization, just like a church) because everyone is not able to afford the professional Christian counseling they need. We, the board and I, decided when we began this ministry that we did not want money to be the determining factor in whether a person received help. We knew the bills had to be paid somehow. We knew that paying for services received is part of the healing process with some people. Therefore, JILM decided to operate on a sliding scale that allows persons to pay according to their income and what they can afford. Regularly, we also provide Christian counseling to people at no cost simply because they cannot afford anything. JILM would have to charge about $125.00 an hour (based on a full counseling schedule) to be able to be able to remain open; doing what we are doing in the area we are in. Most of the people we minister to are unable to afford this. Therefore, these people would have to go without the type of ministry we provide. Over the years, we have been able to successfully minister to hundreds of people; resulting in marriages presently together and healthy which were headed for divorce, families who were in destructive modes who are now living happier lives together, people who were not in church are now regularly attending and involved in church and serving God, individuals who were headed for disaster (or in disaster) who are living healthy and godly lives - and the list goes on. Donations allow JILM to be able to minister to those who are in need and to still pay the bills. It amazes me that people donate finances to provide professional Christian counseling to people they do not know who are hurting and need this type of help.
