Open Integration Incorporated (OpenII) was founded in 2002 with the assistance of the University of Illinois to provide commercial implementations, services, and support for OpenEAI technologies developed at the University. OpenII provides services and software for organizations that practice standards-based enterprise application integration and for software vendors who wish to provide standards-based interfaces to their products. As noted above, OpenII specializes in the methodology and technologies of OpenEAI, an open-source project for standards-based enterprise application integration. OpenII is committed to contributing resources and intellectual property to the OpenEAI project. OpenII donates resources to the project and OpenII staff members are active participants in the OpenEAI project. OpenII developed a robust, standards-based enterprise service bus (ESB) and administration console. While OpenII brands this ESB as the OpenII Toolkit ESB, we also allow our software partners in various sectors to rebrand the ESB as part of their own solution. OpenII's robust methodology, open-source foundation components, and value-added console provide our software partners and enterprise partners with a scalable, flexible service oriented architecture ESB solution. Additionally, OpenII provides clients and embedded software partners with services to assist in building connectors that leverage this state-of-the-art, standards-based technology. Clients contract with OpenII to build connectors for peripheral systems that, for example, address test scores, transportation, subsidized lunch status, health, special education, and a variety of other areas of interest to an enterprise. Embedded license partners utilize OpenII services to build connectors for systems that the partner is contractually obligated to provide for their customers. The value add for the partner is that once OpenII gets in front of the customer and presents on the benefits of OpenEAI and the OpenII Toolkit and OpenEAI Connectors, many sign up for net new connector development. OpenII is committed to working through its partners for any subsequent customer connector development. So, in essence, working with OpenII is like having an additional integration sales force at no extra cost. Additionally, OpenII uses the OpenEAI methodology, which includes excellent analysis and scope control artifacts, which allows partners to maintain scope on fixed-price agreements and distinguish in-scope from out-of-scope work for which customers pay more than the fixed-price, contracted amount.
