River Basin Equine Veterinary Services is committed to providing ethical, professional, and quality veterinary care for our patients, clients and referring veterinarians. Surgery, anesthesia, emergency medicine, critical / intensive care, lameness evaluation, ophthalmology, reproduction and dentistry are areas of special interest within our practice. River Basin Equine performs a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures including emergency abdominal surgery for colic and cesarean sections. Reproductive services at our hospital include artificial insemination with fresh and frozen semen and mare infertility evaluations. The hospital is located five miles south of Cedar Rapids, Iowa just off Interstate 380. River Basin Equine also provides preventative health care and ambulatory service to the greater Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area. River Basin Equine was established in 1999 by husband and wife veterinarian team; Kirk Heisterkamp and Christine Wilkin.
