Welcome to First Baptist Church of Carlsbad, N.M. Established in the era when New Mexico was still a territory, First Baptist began as the Eddy Missionary Baptist Church with a mission to serve the new town of Eddy in an adobe house on April 27, 1890. Through the years, First Baptist has had a strong passion for missions. Many of Carlsbad’s Baptist churches began through the efforts of First Baptist. The church has financially supported missions around the world as well as having church members serve as missionaries. Forged from a century of great heritage, First Baptist looks to the future with anticipation and hope.
