Mylan Inc. (Mylan), formerly Mylan Laboratories Inc., and its subsidiaries comprise a global pharmaceutical company that develops, licenses, manufactures, markets and distributes generic, brand and branded generic pharmaceutical products and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Through Matrix Laboratories Limited (Matrix), an company in which Mylan has a 71.5% controlling interest, it manufactures and supplies API for its own products and pipeline, as well as for third parties. Mylan has three segments: the Generics Segment, the Matrix Segment and the Specialty Segment. Its generic pharmaceutical business is conducted primarily in the United States and Canada, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Australia, Japan and New Zealand. Its specialty pharmaceutical business is conducted by Dey. Its API business is conducted principally through its majority owned subsidiary, Matrix. In June 2008, the Company acquired Merck KGaA's Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) generics businesses.
