Info
Co-nect is a leading provider of K-12 professional development services , with a special focus on district-level, data-driven solutions to issues surrounding teaching and learning. Our mission is to help ensure that every child-in every school, in every classroom-has equal access to an exceptional education. With this goal in mind, we seek to provide instructional leaders with the tools, resources, and training they need to promote professional learning at the classroom level, based on a consistent, research-based vision of instructional quality. We partner with schools and districts to support strategies that address local issues, match local change agendas, and build upon current initiatives. Whether your needs are concentrated in a few underperforming schools or distributed district-wide; whether your focus is on literacy, mathematics, technology integration, or the use of data; we can put together a customized solution that meets your specific needs. For more than a decade, Co-nect has helped schools and districts improve student achievement using a flexible blend of onsite training, Web-based tools, and offsite events such as conferences and leadership seminars. Co-nect was founded in 1992 by members of the Educational Technologies Group at Bolt, Beranek, and Newman in response to a call for proposals from a newly formed Washington, DC-based nonprofit group called the New American Schools Development Corporation (NASDC). The mission of NASDC was to foster school designs that would help local communities create "break-the-mold" schools using replicable strategies that could then be leveraged to improve educational achievement for students nationwide. Co-nect proposed the only solution that employed technology at the heart of the process. Later, we became one of a small number of approved "model providers" identified in the federal Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) funding program. Since our founding, we have worked in almost 500 schools in more than 140 districts in 35 states. Our offerings have evolved from our original school reform model to district-wide solutions that build the capacity to manage effective professional development and instructional improvement. Our work has been the subject of numerous independent research studies , and many of the schools we've worked with have received awards for outstanding achievement. Summaries and analyses of research on our work have been produced by the National Clearinghouse for Comprehensive School Reform (NCCSR) and are available in the NCCSR Research Database on School Reform Models. Co nect is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our education consultants live in the communities they serve throughout the country.
