Info

CRT aims to maximise the potential benefit to cancer patients flowing from publicly-funded cancer research worldwide, and in so doing, be recognized as the leading oncology-focused technology transfer and development company. CRT achieves its aim by:Identifying and protecting new cancer discoveries and inventions which could form the basis of new diagnostics, therapeutics or enabling technologies, arising from the research of leading international scientists;Working with researchers to optimise the development pathway for each invention and facilitating this development either internally, within CRT, or through partners;Establishing industrial partnerships and collaborations, such that commercial resources and expertise can be leveraged in order to realise patient benefit quickly and effectively. Over the last 20 years, CRT has built up a comprehensive understanding of the needs of scientists, research establishments and companies working in oncology. Whether your interest is academic, commercial or clinical you can be assured of a professional, knowledgeable and individual service. CRT is wholly owned by Cancer Research UK, the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world. Cancer Research UK has an annual research budget in excess of £315m that supports almost 500 research groups throughout the UK. Cancer Research UK directly employs around 3000 people. As well as basic research, Cancer Research UK funds more than 35 clinical research centres based within major hospitals throughout the UK. These clinical research units make significant contributions to improvements in the clinical management and treatment of most types of cancer. Within these centres scientists and oncologists have unique opportunities to work together in the development of translational research programmes, which may lead to new inventions and ultimately new therapies for patient benefit. CRT was formed in October 2002 by combining the strengths and employees of its predecessor technology transfer companies, Cancer Research Campaign Technology (CRCT), Cancer Research Ventures (CRV) and Imperial Cancer Research Technology (ICRT).
