Starlight Building Maintenance, Inc. is a janitorial maintenance and General Building Contractor, founded in 1973 by its current President and Chairman, David B. Curtis. Mr. Curtis combined many years retail management experience with his entrepreneurial spirit to forge a Company that would maximize customer service and response, and combine that with the utmost standards of quality. Jon J. Wells, Vice President and General Manager, joined the firm in 1980, bringing along many years experience in Facilities Management with high-technology manufacturers in the Bay Area and as a General Contractor. The Firm is supported by a highly diversified professional management staff with over 100 years of combined building maintenance management experience. By sticking to our basic philosophy of quality, consistency, and fair pricing, we have earned a reputation for keeping our customers happy and for holding onto them. Many no longer find it necessary to go out to bid every year. Through careful planning and constant evaluation of our performance at all accounts, we have increased our business substantially, largely by referral. We service approximately 800 accounts, comprising a total of over 20 million square feet. Starlight offers a full range of services, from basic daily cleaning and floor care to window cleaning, carpet shampooing, clean room maintenance, project management, lighting maintenance, and complete sanitary supplies. Our operation is fully computerized, from job costing and breakdown of function, time and labor requirements, to payroll scheduling and supply inventory. At present, we have over 300 people working in California. In order to keep good people, we offer fair wages and extra incentives based upon performance that meets or exceeds our quality standards. We provide Health, Life and Dental insurance programs, paid vacations, sick leave, etc., and a profit-sharing program. Management personnel receive a yearly bonus based solely on the performance of their respective crews.
