The purpose of The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network is to improve pregnancy outcomes, promote better maternal and child/infant healthcare, establish better linkages between existing programs and ensure that families have access to the full range of preventive and primary health care, social support, and educational resources in the City of Buffalo and Erie County. Key activities of The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network program include: Quarterly consortium meetings, which provide professional education and information sharing for maternal child healthcare providers. Data collection and review to track trends in infant mortality, birth weights and other health indicators in the target populations. Professional education, conferences and training opportunities for maternal/child healthcare and human service providers, such as smoking cessation in pregnancy and HIV testing protocols. Development of innovative programs and pilot projects to address the specific needs of our community. Providing information and resource directories for assisting consumers with accessing services.
