The center operates according to four principles:The Centrality of Trauma - trauma should hold a central place in the organization of services Consumer Voice and Empowerment - a true partnership model is critical to recovery Diversity and Experience - effective services must reflect the diversity and direct experience of the people served Systems Transformation - the center's activities are designed to help organizations, systems and communities to embrace innovation and change. The center is designed to assist trauma survivors within the contexts in which they live and work. Focus will be on five priority populations:Women and adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse problems and histories of violence, Women trauma survivors in the criminal justice system and women crime victims, Refugee and immigrant women, Men with histories of trauma, and Consumer-survivor leadership.
