MUD/BONE was founded as a theater company in 2001 by a diverse group of alumni from the New York University Graduate Acting MFA Program and the Juilliard School for the Performing Arts. Since then we have staged twelve fully cross-cultural plays, nurtured the development of at least one new script by an artist of color each year and offered arts education workshops to more than 400 young people of color in East Harlem, the Lower East Side, Crown Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick and the South Bronx. In May 2004, MUD/BONE moved to the penisula neighborhood of Hunts Point in the South Bronx.
