For over 30 years, Robert Chew, SolarWrights' founder has been offering renewable energy options to help our customers reduce their "environmental footprint". Ever since I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science from New England College in 1973, I have been concerned that our nation's dependence on oil was putting our country and the environment at risk. With our country currently importing over 65% of its oil, my concerns and fears have never been greater. Add to this global climate change and the restarting of the nuclear power industry as a result of a proposed $50 billion loan guarantee from the Federal Government has made me more concerned and angrier than ever. We need to force our leaders to stop the insanity and change the way it operates and the way we use energy. Our country makes up around 6% of the world's population yet we use around 25% of the world's energy. We are at or close to reaching "Peak Oil" and with our country's debt at over $9 trillion, time is running out. Our country has less than 3% of the known oil reserves. We need to do everything within our power to conserve energy, make our homes and vehicles more efficient and add renewable energy systems wherever they are practical. We need to get involved in grass root organizations that will work with our leaders to make the necessary changes that are so urgently needed. The grass roots all volunteer organization that every state should copy is the very successful PACE (Peoples Action for Clean Energy) that is located in Connecticut.
