Della Rice, originally Della Gourmet Rice, was created by Lehman Fowler of Brinkley, AR. Mr. Fowler founded Specialty Rice, Inc. and subsequently Della Gourmet Rice in 1986. Della dropped its "Gourmet" name after the retirement of Mr. Fowler in 1994. In 1994, the Ajmera Family purchased the business and continued the legacy Mr. Fowler created.
