Since 1966, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has provided residents of Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford and northern Cumberland counties with high quality care that fosters health, independence and quality of life at home and in their community. Our nonprofit mission of service and role as a leader in home health care in central and western Maine has been sustained by the generosity of local citizens and municipalities. The challenges facing AHCH today make the need for local support more critical than ever. With limited reimbursement from Medicare and other health care payors, the number of patients requiring subsidized home care and hospice services continues to grow. In addition, advances in medical treatment and home-based care options are requiring ongoing investments in staff education and technology. And with fewer extended families to shoulder the responsibility for caring for loved ones, our volunteer program now plays an increasingly important role in ensuring the security, comfort, and independence of AHCH patients. The Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Foundation was launched in 1999 to bring new strength and prominence to our fund development efforts. The work of our Foundation Trustees is focused on three major goals:developing the long-term financial resources needed to sustain our charitable care and service mission; strengthening our relationships with local residents, businesses, and communities; and involving more community members in the work of the agency through voluntary and leadership roles.
