The Volunteer Pilots Association is a charitable non-profit organization providing air transportation to needy people who must travel to obtain medical treatment. Our member pilots, flying privately owned general aviation aircraft, donate their time and flight expenses. Because there is never a charge to those we fly, a verifiable financial need must exist. Our organization also transports donor organs and other time critical medically related items. We are able to transport patients who do not require medical attention during their flight and who can enter and exit the aircraft with only limited assistance. Because of the smaller size of the aircraft, we have access to many small community airports not served by scheduled airlines. This often reduces the ground travel time of the patient or the item to be carried. The VPA pilots and staff are dedicated volunteers providing a much needed community service.
