Info

Challenge Mountain has begun an evaluation of its Resale Stores to improve services, offer loyal customers some great new prices, and most importantly focus energy on specialty items. First, Challenge Mountain is set to begin offering more "outdoor fun" items in the stores. Anyone who has items such as used sporting goods, tents, grills, lawn furniture, mowers, skis, skates, and any other outdoor activity items they would like to donate would be greatly appreciated. You may receive an acknowledgement of your donation at the time of drop off. The goal of the organization is to provide a much needed specialty product to the area. Since Challenge Mountain provides adaptive recreation of several different types Board Members feel this is a move that will benefit the organization as well as the public. The stores will not stop selling the items people have come to enjoy and count upon, but will instead increase the outdoor items being sold. This is a great opportunity for our communities. There is a need for recreational items. With the understanding we are a tourist driven area, the ability to offer great items for outdoor use is a natural and important direction for the Resale Stores. According to Sue Moody, Challenge Mountain Executive Director, "Our hope is to bring a component to the resale business in our area that has been unfulfilled. We feel eager to bring this focus to our loyal customers, plus bringing in new customers to enjoy these items. We are really counting on community members to remember Challenge Mountain when they no longer need outdoor items that still have a lot of use." Moody went on to say, "We are extremely proud of the hard work the volunteers and staff at the stores do. It is through the work of this group of dedicated individuals that we have been able to provide adaptive recreation to our special needs populations in our communities. From Chicago, to Detroit, to Gaylord, to the UP, and back, people who benefit from our services are able to learn and grow due in part to the stores." Secondly, beginning in June, Challenge Mountain Resale Stores will offer some exciting deals for customers to enjoy. Anyone who has a computer and visits the organization's website at www.challengemtn.org can print a $5 off certificate for one time use in the stores. Third, new sales will be popping up frequently for customers shopping pleasure. Customers who purchase over $6 in the stores can put their names in for a monthly drawing for a variety of great gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses. Purchases over $50 will get your name in a special drawing for gift certificates. Fourth, a great new "Tell a Friend" program will begin in July. Customers will have the chance to receive a gift certificate and so will a friend for shopping in the stores and bringing in new customers. Details will be available mid June in the stores. Cindy Thomas, Resale Stores Manager stated, "We've worked hard in making the stores a nicer cleaner shopping experience for everyone to enjoy. We want our customers to feel as if they are coming home when they enter our stores. They are an extension of our family. We want everyone to walk away with a smile and feeling as if they have gotten a good deal or helped someone out with their donation. To donate outdoor items, household goods, or other gently used items, drop off times are available when the stores are open. To schedule a pick up for furniture, please call Cindy at (231)582-6966 or Kim at (231)348-3195.
