Info

Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott is a national design practice serving the education, healthcare, science, corporate and public markets with architecture, planning and interior design services. Established in 1874 by the American architect, Henry Hobson Richardson, Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott is one of the oldest continuously - practicing architectural firms in the nation and the oldest in Boston. SBRA employs a staff of 225 professionals and serves clients worldwide from its Boston headquarters. We have continuously and deliberately adapted our practice to changing client needs and the evolving social and economic environment. SBRA's current project list includes several institutions , such as Harvard University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center , that were among the firm's original clients. Our awareness of formative issues within our clients' fields animates our design solutions, making them supportive of both current needs and future growth. Our mission as a firm is to create architecture that illuminates and supports people's lives. By giving dimension to our clients' ideas and aspirations, we design environments that are intended to improve and nourish the communities in which they learn, heal, discover, work and live. From the libraries, healthcare facilities, laboratories, civic buildings and workplaces of the future currently being designed at SBRA, to the firm's many past projects now designated as National Historic Landmarks, the firm's collaborative, contextual approach to design results in buildings that vividly reflect their times, but last well into the future.
