Echo Technologies Inc. (ETI) is a sensor and instrumentation development company established in 1997. ETI is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, with laboratory facilities near the Seaport District in Boston. The company's initial business focus is directed toward the development of optical sensors and instrumentation for detection of biological agents and chemical contaminants. An unprecedented opportunity exists for the deployment of chemical/biological sensor systems to protect the public from the dissemination of biological and chemical warfare agents and public health threats, including new and emerging diseases, contaminated food products and poor indoor air quality. Forecasted budgets for military defense in the United States are estimated in excess of $4 billion for the next five years alone-and these estimates do not include procurements for Homeland Security. which could easily triple the biosensor market. ETI's R&D efforts are characterized by innovation balanced with the common sense and experience to make "real world" devices and measurement systems. One example is our EchoSensor, a compact biological-warfare detection system that monitors the presence of airborne bacterial agents. The fundamental technology has been extended to monitoring water quality, DNA analysis and industrial process control.
