Description of Scandy-White Boats , Inc.
Scandy-White Boats, Inc. has manufactured boats for many state and federal agencies. The inset photo is a patrol boat we built for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. We have built research boats for Merritt Island Wildlife Reserve in South Florida as well as the Lake Woodruff Reserve in North Florida. We have also built a number of oyster and clam boats. Commercially, we produced the Island Hopper Queen. A tour boat that seats 24 passengers. Coast Guard tested and approved. Guide boats in Pennsylvania, commercial fishing boats in Alaska and Canada, we have done it all. Dept. of Environmental Protection and Dept. of Natural Resources of Florida and Georgia are both customers of ours. We pride ourselves on being able to meet the standards of the commercial customer not only in quality but also in endurance. Most work boats are used in daily operations. Our vessels have been able to not only keep up with this demand, but surpass it. We recently refurbished a State of Florida research boat that was 13 years old. We recarpeted it, replaced the steering and updated some wiring. This boat that had been used almost daily is now back at work with only a small 'face lift'. The state was able to save the cost of purchasing a new boat. One of the jokes here is that in many ways we prevent our own customers from buying new boats. The only time we ever sell a boat tom the same customer is if they decide they want a bigger boat!
