Outpatient Services East (OSE) was opened in 1985 by a group of thirty-four physicians and Medical Center East in response to the growing ambulatory procedure needs of the community. As a multi-specialty center, all specialties are represented. Outpatient Services East is a freestanding surgery center that provides a patient-oriented setting at significant cost savings. The preference of Outpatient Services East by patients, employers, third party payors and physicians is based on its overall excellence. Outpatient Services East was the first freestanding surgery center in Alabama to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the same agency that reviews hospitals. We have successfully maintained this accreditation to this day. Growing from 6,000 square feet and 13 staff members, Outpatient Services East is now approximately 33,000 square feet and over 100 staff members. OSE now has 6 operating room suites and 9 procedure rooms. Proud of its innovative directors, dedicated staff and fine Medical Staff, Outpatient Services East continues to be on the forefront of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, not only in the State of Alabama, but in the Southeast. Active in national organizations, the management strives to uphold the charter and the goals of providing the best patient care at the most cost-effective rate.
