Investment management is the profession of asset management for a range of securities including bonds, shares and real estate to meet the goals of investors. The investors include insurance companies, charities educational establishments, pension funds and corporations, as well as private investors who make investment contracts or participate in collective investment schemes such as exchange-traded funds or mutual funds. Investment managers or investment advisors may specialize in advisory or discretionary management for wealthy investors which they call money management or portfolio management which is a part of private banking.
